Cultur and animation company will produce a series of videos of Mayan legends: accessible and trilingual
Starting tomorrow the first video will be screened at the XXI Century Cinemas
Mérida, Yucatán, July 31, 2023. Cultur and RAMCO Animation Studio, a Yucatecan company, join forces to produce and disseminate a saga of the most popular Mayan legends, as a way to promote the rescue of part of the legacy of our culture.
It is a different production since it is not only about the story in question, but it was produced in a way that is accessible to people with hearing, visual and intellectual disabilities.
Mayan and English versions
In addition, there will also be a version with English subtitles and a more spoken version in Maya, so that Maya-speakers have access to this content.
Starting this Tuesday, August 1, the first video of "The Legend of the Jaguar" will be screened in Siglo XXI cinemas, which consists of the narrative of how this feline obtained its spots. The production is very striking since it was made through special cartoon programs and special effects. Work is already underway on the other versions.
Cultur and RAMCO Animation Studio, agreed that from now on they will develop in a coordinated way a video every month and thus giving variety to the stories, which reflect our ancestral identity.
Among the legends contemplated are, in addition to that of the jaguar: El Alux, El Balam, El Che Uinic, El enano de Uxmal, El Uay Chivo, El Kí, El Makech, La Xtabay and Sac Nicté.
The first video is already on the Cultur website, in the "Cultural Events" section, in the https://www.culturyucatan.com/cultur/eventos/es link from where you can access the YouTube channel.
It should be noted in this way Cultur fulfills two of its strategic lines: accessibility and promotion and dissemination of Mayan culture, both contemplated in the Integral Executive Program (PEI) that is aligned with the PED 2018-2024.
