Honesty of Cultur staff favors tourists from France, England, USA, Spain and Canada
In 4 months they found more than 40 objects – including 14 Iphone – and returned them to their owners
Mérida, Yucatán, July 4, 2023. From March to June, quartermaster, security and administrative personnel working in Cultur service units, found and returned more than 40 objects that tourists lost, including cell phones, wallets with cash, backpacks with various belongings and even caps.
In the period indicated, the objects were found in the service units of Chichén Itzá (22 returns, Museo del Meteorito (5), Centro de Convenciones y Exposiciones Yucatán Siglo XXI (5) Cines Siglo XXI (2), Uxmal (2), El Corchito (1) and Pasaje Picheta (1).
The favored tourists were six foreign countries: the United States (with 8 returns), France and England (2 each), Chile, Spain and Canada (one each). From the interior of the country there were 8 and locals, from several municipalities, were 18.
In all cases, tourists thanked the returns of their items that they lost due to oblivion, especially in the bathrooms of the paradores. What matters, according to one of the protagonists of these stories of honesty, is to see the face of joy and even disbelief of people at the moment when they recover something valuable to them and that they already believed lost.

The protagonists of returns
Quartermaster staff: Luz Alba Pech Dzul (7 returns), Nancy Floricely Cab Cobá ((5), Martha Tec Cemé (2), Gabino Caamal Caamal (2), and Nataly Kinil Cemé, Alejo Chay Ay, Paula Yam Pat, Jesús Cemé, Luz María Lavadores, Rebeca Uh, Paula Ek Matú, Gaspar Itzá Calderón, Sandra Martínez Pech, Lucely Moo Uc, all with a return.
Security personnel: Bernabé Vázquez, Freddy Cob Pérez, Ángel López Toro, Diego Francisco Chalé Ravel, Luis Kumul Estrella, Luis Tun Maas and Claudia Rivero Cabrera.
Administrative staff: Walter Alcocer, María Cruz Novelo and Karla Barbosa Chan. Gaspar Itzá Calderón and Lucely Moo Uc, the latter two are social service in the Cines Siglo XXI.
Objects found and returned
March. 9 cell phones, an umbrella, a backpack with various belongings, Ray Ban glasses and even a cap.
April. 7 cell phones, a wallet with cash, an electronic cigarette, a bag with quartz stones and a babysitter with various things.
May. 9 cell phones, of which 8 were of the Iphone brand and all cases occurred in Chichén Itzá.
June. 4 cell phones, glasses, a bag with various belongings and a refrigerator.
