The first inspection visit by the Yucatan Health Services has already been carried out

Merida, Yucatan, January 9, 2024. Today, a team from the Yucatan Health Services (SSY) conducted an inspection visit to the facilities of the Siglo XXI Convention Center, managed by Cultur, to eliminate nearly 30 potential breeding sites and prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes.

This is an initial approach, as the goal is for this building to achieve recertification as a "Mosquito Breeding-Free Environment," an accolade it obtained last year. However, actions need to be reinforced each year to obtain it again. The maintenance team at Siglo XXI estimated that within a week to 10 natural days, they could address aspects such as sealing wells, repairing drain covers in the bathrooms, and placing larvicide pouches in the drains, among other things.

Once everything is ready, SSY will be notified again to schedule a new visit, and if everything is in order, the aforementioned recertification will be achieved. Today, the health authority representatives conducted a brief tour and subsequently drafted a report recommending: "Continue maintaining the recommended actions" to achieve the initial certification.

"We are interested in keeping Siglo XXI as a safe space for everyone who visits us for every event held here, including the Siglo XXI cinemas that are also part of it," expressed Mauricio Diaz Montalvo, General Director of Cultur.

The Secretariat of Tourism, also located in the same building, will also be notified to take corresponding measures and undergo recertification.

Today itself some details began to be addressed. During today's inspection visit, Cultur staff started cleaning all the grates that had become covered in leaves over time due to recurrent winds.
