Mauricio Vila lays the first stone of the new O'Horán Hospital
Reflection of the transformation of health that drives in Yucatan
Reflecting the impulse to the transformation of health in Yucatan and after the efforts of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, this day began the construction of the new General Hospital "Dr. Agustín O'Horán", work that represents the fulfillment of a dream long cherished by the Yucatecans, who will soon have a larger and better equipped public hospital.
Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal laid the first stone of what will be the new hospital, located south of this city, which is considered the largest to be built throughout the country in recent years.
The modern hospital is built on land donated by the state government, next to the Maternal and Child Hospital, near the Korea-Mexico Friendship Hospital.
The new hospital will have 66,600 square meters of construction on an area of almost 11 hectares, while the current one only occupies 4 hectares. It will have 300 beds surpassing the 254 it currently has, it will have 15 operating rooms, when in the building it occupies today there are only 6 and the number of offices will be expanded from 41 to 81.
As an innovation, it will have areas that were not previously contemplated, such as the Women's Clinic, Cleft Lip and Palate, Pain and Palliative Care, as well as ample parking spaces, auditorium and heliport to attend emergencies with the support of the helicopter of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP).
The materialization of this project, long desired by the Yucatecans and that several previous administrations tried to carry it out without success, is one of the reasons why Vila Dosal decided to remain in Yucatan and put aside the race for the candidacy for the presidency of the country. It is part of the transformation of the state that the Governor has set in motion since day one of his administration, a transformation that is seen and felt.
