For Carnival, there will be no video mapping from Thursday, February 8th to Saturday, February 10th in Izamal

Due to the carnival festivities
Miércoles 07 de Febrero de 2024

Mérida, Yucatán, February 7, 2024. The General Director of Culture, Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, informs that due to the carnival festivities in Izamal, the video mapping "Senderos de Luz" will not be projected starting tomorrow, Thursday, February 8th, until Saturday, February 10th.

This was also communicated by the Director of Tourism and Economic Development of the Municipality, Carlos Alejandro Itzá Mex, in a letter addressed to the state agency.

As described by the municipal official in the document, this is "due to the traffic disruptions caused by the parades of the troupes and artistic presentations in the Historic Center of the city."

We inform all tourists so they can take precautions if they had planned to see this audio-light show. After the mentioned period, this cultural event will resume its regular schedule.

Senderos de Luz: What to see and schedules...

This video mapping, which lasts 90 minutes and consists of four stops with mini-projections starting from the Cañones Park, involves a walk where the visitor embarks on a "journey" to learn about the history of Izamal, important historical figures, and the Green Gold Era, when the henequen industry was at its peak. Additionally, you can learn interesting facts about the houses in the Historic Center.

This cultural event is projected from Thursday to Saturday at 8:00 PM. For more information, please call 9999421900 from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM or the call center at 9991269925 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM from Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

In 24 hours, neighbors of Yucatan have already separated the 5 puppies rescued by Cultur in Chichén

The only thing left to do is the mother of the puppies, who is very docile and affectionate
Jueves 25 de Enero de 2024

Mérida, Yucatan, January 25, 2024. In less than 24 hours since Cultur reported the rescue of six dogs, as part of the "Operation Rescue of Kukulkán Puppies", several neighbors of Yucatan have already separated them, to have them.

The only one that remains pending in the mother, as expected because she is already a big dog and people prefer puppies, even the first ones that were requested were the males.

The people who asked for the animals are: A person who lives in Temozón, gray puppy; another who lives in Tinum, a black puppy; one more, who lives in Tizimín, requested a black puppy; another from Merida asked for a gray puppy; one who lives in Tinum, a black puppy.

As reported, those interested will have to wait a month, the approximate time indicated by MVZ Antonio Ríos Pérez, from Planed Pethood, for the animals to stop depending on the mother and start eating kibble.

It should be noted that, according to Lourdes Durán Leal, from the Perpópolis association, who has them under her protection as an animal protection association, and who is in charge of determining in which cases adoption is or is not appropriate, given the conditions where the puppies will live.

In addition, once that time has elapsed, they will be given comprehensive care, and then the new owners of the puppies will have the responsibility of continuing to care for them with their vaccinations, and other attention.

Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, general director of Cultur, thanked the interest that people showed in adopting the "sacred dogs", because they help an animal to have a home where it will find love, food and a much safer life than the one they have in the mountains of Chichén Itzá.

-We are sure that soon someone will also be interested in the mother of the puppies because she is a very kind, affectionate, playful dog... In short, he is loved and coexists perfectly with people," said Durán Leal.

It should be noted that if they do not manage to have a puppy, they are on the waiting list in case they regret any of what has already separated them, although they all made the commitment to keep the animals when it happens.

Anyone interested in getting on the waiting list to have a puppy or to adopt the mother of the puppies, please contact Lourdes Durán, from Perpópolis, at 9991 52 30 73.

Cultur rescues six other sacred puppies from Kukulkán and puts them up for adoption

It's about five puppies and the mom who is docile and friendly
Miércoles 24 de Enero de 2024

Mérida, Yucatan, January 24, 2024. As part of the "Operation Rescue of Kukulkán Puppies" Cultur rescued six of these animals on Wednesday 17: five puppies, three males and two females barely two weeks old, plus the mother, who turned out to be a very docile and friendly dog, reported Mauricio Díaz Montalvo, general director of Cultur.

Given the condition of the dogs, the experts who care for them considered that they are all "candidates" to be given up for adoption, only that this time it would be necessary to wait at least a month for the delivery to be made, since they are in the lactation stage and depend on their mother.

However, those who are interested in adopting them can separate the one they like and have the privilege of having a "sacred puppy from Chichén" at home.

With this rescue of six "lomitos", the "Operation Rescue of Kukulkán Puppies" already totals 13, of which only one was returned to its habitat, since it was considered feral and therefore it would not have been possible to live with people, all the others were adopted.

The first rescue occurred on February 11, 2022 (1); the second was on May 2 (2); on June 17 there were another three and on August 1, 2023 it was the last one known as "El Chino" who was about to lose one of his legs as he arrived with a serious wound on the verge of gangrene. With this new rescue, the number of rescued dogs practically doubles.

As is known, this project began before the pandemic at the request of the INAH, given that many dogs were detected when they climbed the castle of Chichén Itzá, which could cause damage to this architectural jewel, plus the public health risk they represent since they do not receive any attention. Due to the health emergency, it was suspended, but resumed in 2022.

The project does not contemplate leaving the area without dogs. It is important that some stay because they create a balance and prevent others from entering. The idea is that what has to be returned because they are feral is already sterilized, and dewormed and thus prevent them from continuing to reproduce indiscriminately.

The New Rescue How did they get to the vet?

After being handed over to the Planed Pethood veterinarian, the person in charge of the same, MVZ Antonio Ríos Pérez, said that although they all arrived infested with fleas and ticks, there was no compromising issue with the puppies.

"When the puppies are a little older, they will be given the full treatment and the respective vaccinations will be applied," he added.

However, in the case of their mother, he pointed out that when they did a study they detected that she has worms in her heart, which although it is serious, can be treated and cured without major problems.

For the time being, the puppies and their mother are in the Perpópolis temporary shelter run by Lourdes Durán Leal, who will keep them under her protection until they can be cared for and, subsequently, until they are given up for adoption.

How to separate the puppy you like?

Those interested can call the following cell numbers: 9991 523073 and 9991 832064.

It should be noted that it is the animal protection association that determines the criteria for a puppy to be adopted, such as, for example, that it is a fenced house, that it has a dignified space with a roof and free, etc.

So, if you're interested, you can now separate your sacred puppy, you're sure to love it!
