Nights of Kukulcán, a unique experience at the legendary Chichén Itzá
Visitors are invited to enjoy the nighttime spectacle at the foot of the El Castillo pyramid.
Before traveling back in time with a high-quality audiovisual projection, the imposing Temple of Kukulcán, in the heart of Chichén Itzá, welcomes visitors under the moonlight.
The carefully designed lighting of its structure allows for a detailed view of the staircases that culminate in the stone carving of the god who protects the ancestral heritage of the Maya.
This effort to bring the history, legends, and teachings of Mayan culture closer to the public in "Nights of Kukulkan" is the result of collaboration between the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the State Government, through the Board of Trustees of Cultural and Tourist Service Units (Cultur). These partnerships facilitated the visit of 18,269 people to this nighttime spectacle in 2025.
For 30 minutes, the Castle recounts the splendor of the Itzaes' power, warrior leaders who transformed Chichen Itza into one of the most important political centers of the Mayan lands.
With an immersive narration, accompanied by professional music and sound, essential passages are shared to understand the role of Chichén Itzá in the Mayan cosmogony.
Thus, the participants are transported to another era, immersing themselves in the sacred cenote that holds all the secrets of a mystical age of reverence for the unknown.
After exploring the ancient city of the Itzá, walking among the Great Ballcourt, the Tzompantli platforms, the Eagles and Jaguars, Venus, the Jaguar Temple, and the Temple of the Warriors, the experience continues on the central esplanade, directly in front of one of the most accurate and astonishing stone calendars of the pre-Hispanic world of Mesoamerica: the Temple of Kukulcán.
It is in this place, under the watchful gaze of the stars, that an encounter with the past takes place, one that continues to define our present: Kukulcán descends from the summit of the pyramid erected in his honor, as a reminder of the grandeur of a living and present culture.
"Nights of Kukulkan" can be enjoyed from Wednesday to Sunday; the show begins at 7:00 p.m., and it is recommended to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for entry to the archaeological site.
Tickets can be purchased through the following link: https://nochesdekukulkan.com.mx/evento/1. On Sundays, there is a special price of 730 pesos for Mexican citizens, which corresponds to the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History) rate. This price is honored upon presentation of a valid official ID proving residency in Mexico.
